Explore the American spirit
John Clemons' Epic Tale of Perseverance, Freedom, Love and Optimism
John Clemons' Epic Tale of Perseverance, Freedom, Love and Optimism
John Clemons grew up in Upstate New York. At 15 years old, he hitchiked across the country to Woods College in Portland, Oregon. He dropped out of Woods after two years and worked as a carpenter and painter. He went on to graduate from Ivy Medical College and was a prominent surgeon/researcher for 35 years. Dr. Clemons lives in Dylan, Montana, in a historic hotel that he spent a decade renovating. He also spends time in Harmony, California.
This book has roots in John Steinbeck's love of everyday people, nature and humor. Hermann Hesse's Siddhartha's spiritual discovery and wanderings. Ayn Rand's contempt for big government and incompetence, Aldous Huxley's and George Orwell's bleak future under bureaucratic state and corporate rule. Earnest Hemingway's heroic Old Man and the Sea, and Jack Kerouac's On the Road. This is a quintessentially American novel with rugged individuals succeeding through perseverance, strong values, humor, optimism, love of each other and America.
To my father who spent 10 years in the American Navy in WWII and the Korean War. He gave up the best years of his life to keep us free and safe. To my mother and my wife who always believed in me, no matter what foolish things I did.
